Our Pop Secret Family Movie Night with GIVEAWAY

We are huge movie fans in the Angry House.  We probably watch more movies than actual TV.  It is much easier to watch movies at home, than to drag our son to movies that he does not want to see. Plus, I can watch movies from home in my pajamas.

Last Friday, I invited my best friend, Stacey, and her daughter over for a movie night. It has been awhile since I’ve seen both of them.  Angry Kid was quite excited to see Stella.  It was probably a good thing that Stella came over, because Angry Kid was quite exhausting during the day on Friday.  Angry Kid and Stella had dinner and then it was movie time.  A week before our movie night, I went to the grocery store and did some pre-party shopping.  I documented my shopping trip with Whrrl.

When the kids got all settled and ready to watch the movie, which was Despicable Me, I got some Pop Secret Popcorn ready for them. Because really, you can’t watch a movie without popcorn, right?

Angry Kid was annoyed with my picture taking. He was trying to shoot me with Nerf darts.  Do you see all the orange darts on the floor?

While the kids were watching Despicable Me, the adults were watching The Social Network.  We had peace and silence, well not too silent, because we could hear the kids destroying my son’s room, but we chose to ignore the noises.

After the movie was over, I attempted to interview Angry Kid and Stella about their favorite movies.  Stacey warned me that Stella wants to be an actress, and she believed that we were filming  a commercial.  Angry Kid got very quiet and shy.  Their responses were predictable and hilarious though.

Upcoming Events

I am completely swamped with stuff in the next month or so.  I should probably write everything down on a calendar, or something. Oh wait, I have that fabulous Erin Condren Life Planner in my laptop bag.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the 2010-11 version.

So anyway, starting next week, July 19th to be exact, I am going to be participating in the Pro Blogger Challenge with The SITS Girls on Blog Frog.  It is a plan to which gives you “31 Days to Build a Better Blog”.  I am completely stumped with my blog writing lately, and I need some new ideas.  This was the perfect challenge for me.  I hope to learn more about myself, my blogging, and be able to change some of the things that I do with my blog.

During the first week of August, I will be attending the BlogHer Conference in New York City.  This is my second BlogHer, as I attended last year in Chicago.  I had a great time.  I will be attending some parties, but I am not going to overwhelm myself this time.  Seriously, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off last year trying to get to all the events.  I can’t wait to see all of my bloggy friends there too.  If you are going to BlogHer, be sure and come say “HI” to me.

The week after Blogher, I will be hosting a Back-To-School Giveaway Bonanza with 11 other awesome bloggers. And last but not least, I will be finishing my summer with Bloggy Boot Camp in San Francisco. This is my second Bloggy Boot Camp as I attend Bloggy Boot Camp Phoenix.  I will be speaking at this particular BBC.  I will also be doing a little road trip up to San Francisco with my Bloggy Pals.  They also recently added a Bloggy Boot Camp in St. George, Utah on November 13, 2010.  I will most likely be attending that one too, as it is the day before my 35th Birthday.  I think that is the perfect way to celebrate turning 35!

Wow, looking at all of this freaks me out. But it’s a good freak out, right? Plus the Angry Kid starts Kindergarten the first week of September.  I can survive all of this…I can…I hope.  Wish me luck!

The Pleated Poppy, A Little Giveaway

I first heard about Lindsey and her business, The Pleated Poppy at Blissdom.  She was the talk of the conference.  I saw many many many people wearing her creations. I knew that I *needed* to make a purchase from her site.

I’m a HUGE lover of cardigans, and her petal pushers were/are the perfect accessory to my solid colored cardigans.  They make my Target cardigans look like the ones at that store, you know the one, with the A in the name, that ends with “ologie”.

I purchased a turquoise petal pusher and wore it at Bloggy Boot Camp last month.  I wore it to dinner the first night, and Lisa Leonard immediately noticed that it was a Lindsey design. I went through all of the pictures from Bloggy Boot Camp and I found a great picture from that night taken by Kim on her personal blog.

I don’t look very dainty in my bazillion dollar Anthro dress with my big ole’ camera, but look at my Petal Pusher.  Isn’t it fabulous! I think so! I believe if I do say so myself, that I need one in every color, to accessorize myself properly.
