Hello Monday: The Hunger Games Edition

Hello Monday!!

Hello Hunger Games.

If you are not a fan of The Hunger Games, I am sure that you are over all this talk about the movie.  At Blissdom in 2010, I remember sitting at lunch with Tiffany.  She told me all about this book that I needed to read, The Hunger Games.  I ordered it online, right from our lunch table, and it had arrived when I got home.  I think I finished the book in less than two days. I was hooked.

Hello to Erin for planning a fabulous pre-movie dinner get together!

Hello to a rad gift exchange!

Hello District 11. I was assigned District 11, which is Agriculture.

My gift was some mini ceramics plants with herb seeds along with a mini veggie garden starter kit.  I placed everything in a box and wrapped it in brown craft paper.  I was going to stencil, “Greetings From District 11″ on the top of the box with a Sharpie. But Angry Husband had a better idea, and he whipped out a can of black spray paint.  Seriously awesome, right? I don’t have a picture of it, but I also tied some twine around the package.

Hello to ending up with Drew’s gift from the exchange.

If you have read The Hunger Games or seen the movie, you would understand the wording on the tote bag. “I Love The Boy With The Bread”, refers to Peeta Mellark a character in the movie.  Peeta gave the main character, Katniss, a loaf of bring when she was younger and starving.  The blue bird is a reference to a Mockingjay, a symbol within the book/movie.  And well, The Lucky Charms refer to the actor, Josh Hutcherson, playing Peeta in the movie. Josh is ummm, a tad bit short. We might have referred to him as a Leprechaun via text messages.

My #hungergames pre-dinner gift that I selected. It was from @drewbphoto. It is #TeamPeeta based. Hence the bread, and the Lucky Charms are an inside joke. The actor playing Peeta is a wee bit short. The bird is a "mockingjay" but I also refer to it as a

Hello to good food and lots of laughs with everyone at dinner.

Loved the movie and loved the book even more. I refused to take my hubby because he hadn't read the book - he wasn't pleased! But I have my standards. It is going to be so hard to wait for the next one!

I am a huge fan of these books and I saw the movie on opening day! I LOVE this party idea!! My son's book club read the books so we're going to do a mock hunger games. I'm going to take them to a park and we'll have our own cornecopia...basically it will be a game of capture the flag. When your flag is captured you're dead. They are going to dress as tributes from the various districts. They are all excited about it!! I like your party idea for the moms though. :)

Oh what fun. Wish someone here had done that. Loved, loved, loved the book. Saw the movie yesterday with The Hubby and B. He had no clue to what it was about as he doesn't read books much but enjoyed the film. B & I LOVED IT! Can't for Catching Fire. I agree Josh is a TAD short!

Super cute and a great idea! I loved the movie! I think Stanley Tucci the best. He was amazing. Hubby thinks they could have ended it a little better. I thought it was great though. Okay, I have a photo question if you don't mind answering because looking at the above made me think about it! Your last photo of Drew looks a little... pixelated? Has little dots on her face and the rest of the picture. What is that? My wonderful (old) camera - Canon PowerShot that is 5 years old seems to have recently started doing this, I have no idea why. It always took amazing pictures and I never touched any setting on it. Now, all of the sudden it's BUGGING me. I feel like I changed a setting and I have no idea what I did to it. I also feel like my iPhone takes these types of photos too... so I'm not really sure what is going on. (You should also add the 'Subscribe to Comments' plugin in Wordpress so I can be notified if you ever reply to this completely random comment - haha! Seriously, it's called: Subscribe to Comments) :) I will have to remember to ask Drew when I see her next week too.

Yes, it was fun getting our "texting gang" all together in one place. I love my prize. He is totally shorty-mcshorterson in the movie. My son was stoked because the Lucky Charms had a Star Wars prize inside the box, bonus!

We had a great time. I miss you, my friend!!! Thanks for the hair compliment. It is a slow process. I barely recognize you with your dark hair.

Sounds like a fun party. There are tons of Hunger Games party tips online with food, games, etc. Did you know that there is a Hunger Games cookbook? Yep, there is.

I'm trying to get my husband to read the book and/or see the movie. I think that he would like it. He is soo stubborn though.

LOL, Kristi. I took the photo with my iPhone. It was dark outside. It does that when you don’t use a flash. I never use the flash on my iPhone because it looks like crappola. No reason to subscribe to comments because my replies get emailed to you, via my ReplyMail plugin. Stanley Tucci was awesome…the blue hair cracked me up.

Thanks Julie :) I did get your reply in my email but I didn't get any other notifications of reply's on the thread (like Drew's!) if I wanted to follow what everyone else was saying. Just FYI
