Since it is that time of the year, running season, I should probably be running. For the past few years, you would see tons of races posted on my blog. I have not run one race at all in 2010. I really haven’t run at all. I’ve been too busy with work and the family, and well, everything else. But I re-arranged my running music list today, so hopefully I will feel a little more inspired to run. I do have some races coming up, that I’ve already paid for; so I need to get my feet into those shoes, put on that Garmin, turn up the iPod and get out on the road.
You are probably thinking? What type of music does Angry Julie listen to when she runs? Angry music, of course. I thought I would share my list with you.

This list is 44 songs, and 3.3 hours of FUN! Yes, I have the most random taste of music! Don’t HATE!

That IS Angry! Okay, not really. We actually have some of the same songs. My last race was two weeks before I conceived #3, who is turning 1 tomorrow, so it’s been awhile too! I’m going to steal some of your songs for my own playlist – I could use a little Angry to get me going! LOL
Sounds like you need a Team Sparkle running skirt.
BTW, angry music is good for running for me too. It helps get my adrenaline up.
I’m a fan of many of these bands – great list! Check out MGMT and Muse, too. I think they have great songs to run and workout to.
Good luck with running! I hear you on how hard it is to find the time. I usually just end up popping in a workout video at midnight. Ha!

I love it!! I need to queue some of these up for my own list. Nice.
I would hardly classify Miley Cyrus as “angry music” unless by angry you mean, “Gee whiz! That artist makes me angry because they are so…well…useless!” In which case, I will totally agree that Miley Cyrus is angry music. But if you mean the guts and glory of the artist and their songs is angry, then, well, I think there is a disconnect between us two star crossed lovers.
Awesome playlist! I have some of the same songs on mine as well
Angry music is POWER music! Love your list
Get a green sparkle skirt and run the ET midnight marathon with me.
I can’t believe how many of these songs I have on my ipod for the gym. I always have to explain to people that Britney Spears is on there for exercise reasons only!
Sounds like my kind of running list. I share your random taste in music. My ipod goes from Miley Cyrus to Beyonce to Godsmack. Which by the way, has great songs for running.
Hello!!
New here to your blog and saying hi from San Diego!
I am almost 9 months pregnant and not doing much running lately but hope to get back into it sometime after I have baby #2
I like an eclectic mix to run to as well- I think angry music makes me run better too!

Hello from Orange County!! Running is a great body recovery after having a baby! Congratulations on the upcoming lil’ one.
Awesome list! I may have to snag it for my workouts!!!!
Wow that is a wide range of music you have there!
I have what I call “motivational” music that I love to drive to, I always end up doing about 70 when it’s on because I get into it.
I love anything Metallica!
That is a GREAT list! Love metallica
Butt rocker girl here…
A great playlist.
Corny maybe, but I actually HAVE been looking for a playlist like this!! I get stuck on 80s Big Hair ballads about half way thru and well.. they are hard to work out to! LOL Awesome list! Hitting up iTunes now…
Great play-list! I want to run, or start running! Finishing a marathon is on my bucket list!
I’m a little afraid. Just a tad. I’m not very coordinated and fall when I speed walk sometimes!
Finishing a marathon is on my bucket list too.
That’s quite a list
Love your running list! I have a few of them on my ipod for my treadmill workouts. One of these days, I’m going to get to the point where I can run a full 30 minutes on the treadill. Without killing myself, I mean.
Good luck! I’ve been totally slacking on my running lately..
Awesome list. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of late-90′s heavy music represented.
Outside of working with the elves (see hyperlink), I’m a DJ and would love to make a few other running recos:
LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, Daft Punk (just finished soundtracking the re-make of Tron for Disney), Cut Copy … and, if you really want some heavy tracks, check out Underoath. Their music is absolutely brutal, but the message is really positive.
That is a totally random list of music.
Make me a CD – minus Metallica please.
Unless you want to put Enter Sandman..
You know you love the Metallica…I think we can make a CD. I told Angry Husband that he needs to make you a CD.
No Frank likes Metallica. Me not so much sans Enter Sandman.
Fabulous playlist!! I’m going to iTunes now and searching up that Dramarama song . . .
lol, I can’t get enough of Miley! She definitely is the best!
